<description>All good reasons, and it all has to start with measurement. The thought of getting to grips with this type of project can be daunting to say the least, but before you can start switching off you have to identify the culprits. In the datacenter, we found that three quarters of managers reckoned that 15% or more of their servers were performing no useful work, but how do you identify them?

We have developed a solution to address this concern, which is already being deployed by some of our customers. With our NightWatchman Server Edition, data center managers can not only quickly grasp which servers are doing any useful work but also put those that are only occasionally used for useful work into a drowsy i.e.: low-power state; functionality which is comes hand in hand with a compelling cost savings argument, not to mention greater potential for energy efficiency.
