ICT is almost always left out in the cold when it comes to energy efficiency initiatives. This is really surprising if you believe some of the data based on research done by Gartner. For instance, IT energy consumption in Financial Services and Government accounts for between 40% and 60% of total energy consumption. A similar profile would be seen in the telecommunications sector where technology is pervasive as well as any other admin centric organistaion.
